Tea Light Holders

Yeah, how about that?  A new page dedicated to tea light holders.  The tea light, from my understanding, originated in Japan to be mainly used in tea ceremonies.  They also used them for ambience in the room.  Now, here in America we use them for all sorts of things.  But, I think the main use is ambient lighting.  I turn these little gems primarily from cut off from various logs, so there will certainly be more.  Stay turned!

One thing that can always be said about bodark is that it is a darned hard wood.  Very dense, yet to me quite nice looking.  It does have a very distinguished grain pattern.  Another interesting thing about this wood is that is turns a burnt orange color over time.   Nothing you can do about it.  Mamma Nature wants it this way.  For those who were wondering, this wood is also known as Osage Orange.  The wood on this holder was sealed with the food grade walnut oil that I use on my bowls and so on.  The finishing was done with a walnut oil based wax.  All this gives the holder a more satin type finish which looks really good with this wood.  The tops diameter is 3 ½” and the base diameter is 4 ½”.  The height is 2 ½”.  The metal grommet that holds the candle is fixed into the wood.  The holder come with 3 candles.  19May20  CHBA2  $25.00 and $5.00 S&H  Shipping price listed is for standard shipping with Continental United States.  All other areas contact me with zip code for shipping costs.

Some might say this tea light holder has 4 legs instead of feet.  Well, don’t ya have to have the feet to put on the legs?  Never mind.  I tried to turn one of similar shape the other day but one foot just decided to whomp me when it came off.  Oh, well.  This one has some beautiful grain and color.  Even has some interesting looking cracks that I just had to leave alone.  Looks really good to me.  Before I forget the holder comes with 3 candles.  The base diameter is 6 ¼” with a top diameter of 3 ½”.  The height is 3”.  The grommet for holding the candle is affixed to the wood.  The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and the finishing was done with orange oil wax.  Besides giving a nice natural finish and smell, this combination puts a warm satin sheen to the piece.  7May20  CHCE2  $27.50  $4.00 S&H Shipping listed is for standard shipping with Continental United States.  All other areas contact me with zip code for shipping costs.
