Jars & Canisters

In the past I had been putting these jewels in the Boxes section.  I decided as that since I will be expanding the jar and canister pieces that they should have their own page.  So here we go.  The biggest difference between a box and a jar or canister is the size and capacity.  So most likely some of the pieces in the boxes section are probably going to get their name slightly changed and added to this section.  Enjoy!!!

Colorful Pecan Goodie Jar

Do you honestly think you are going to find a more beautiful jar than this one to put your goodies in?  I find it unlikely.  Naturally colorful, this jar turned from pecan wood shows you just one of the many wonders that Mamma Nature provides us with wood.  Now I am not saying that you have to put M&M’s in this jar, though it is well suited for that.  This would be perfect for pistachios and many other things.  It does hold 1 ¼ cups measured to the brim.  The diameter is 5 ¼” with a total height of 4”.  The vessel height is 2 ¼” and the depth is 1 ¾”.  Don’t forget that you can even put ground teas and spices in this as well.  The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a walnut oil/shellac mixture.  With a combination such as that gives the jar a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  You just might not want to pass this up!  14Mar18  BXP87  $32.50 and $10.00 S&H

Versatile 7 3/4" Cottonwood Jar

You might ask what I mean when I say this jar is versatile.  Well, think about it.  You may put cookies In it, or candy, or even nuts as in the photos.  There is no limit to what you might put in it and the volume measures to a whole 4 cups.  Personally I’d use it to hide my personal stash of M&M’s.  The wood was sealed with 2 coats of food grade walnut oil and then finished with, well several coats of a walnut oil/shellac mixture.  Not sure how many coats were applied to it.  This combination gives the jar a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  The diameter of the jar is 7 ¾” and the total height is 4”.  The vessel height is 3 ¼” and the vessel depth is 2 ½”.  The unique color of the wood along with some spalting that Mamma Nature added to the mix make this a beautiful jar to have.  22Jan18  BXCW1  $35.00 and $12.00 S&H

Naturally Beautful Pecan Candy Jar

No doubt about this jar turned from pecan wood is beautiful.  And I can’t take any credit for that as what you see is all natural.  Mamma Nature did it, not me.  All I did was seal the wood with food grade walnut oil and then finish it with a walnut oil based wax.  And in doing this gives the jar a nice hard long lasting finish.  Far be it from me to say that you can only put candy in this jar.  Use it for whatever you wish.  You might want to use it to hide your personal pistachio stash.  Then again you might want to hide some treasures in it.  The outside diameter is 4 ¾” with an inside lip diameter of 3 ¾”.  The total height comes to 6” and the vessel height is 4 ¾”.  The vessel depth measures at 4” with a volume coming to 3 cups.  That is actually a passle load of M&M’s!!!  With the natural colors this is one to have.  You will find only one burred area that won’t sand out on the top side of the lid.  Just adds to the rustic flavor of the jar.  8Dec17  BXP86  $37.50 and $12.00 S&H

Naturally Colorful Pecan Jar

This beautiful jar is colorful indeed.  And naturally.  There are no stains or dyes or any color altering substances on this jar.  What you see is what Mamma Nature put before you.  All I did was finish it up.  I was heading towards sort of a bee hive shape with this jar and I think I got there to a point.  But, the shape is nice nonetheless.  I created a lip on the jar and burned a decorative line there.  The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a walnut oil based wax.  The outside diameter is 5 ¼” with the inside lip being 4”.  The total height is 7 ¼” and the vessel height is 5 ½”.  The vessel depth is 4 ¾” and the volume measures at 3 cups.  I know I used pecans in the photos but you can put all kinds of tasty things in this jar including candy.  You know?  M&M’s?  And of course you might want to stash some treasures in it.  Whatever purpose you decide to use it for, it will do it well.  21Nov17  BXP85  $37.50 and $12.00 S&H

Lovely Red Oak Pedestal Jar

When you look at this jar turned from Red Oak you see some interesting grain patters as well as colors.  When I was sanding this jar I purposely left the inside not as smooth as I did the outside.  This was to give the jar a bit more of a rustic appeal.  Now you may put anything you wish in this jar as the wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and finished with two coats of a walnut oil based wax.  Using this type of finish gives the jar a nice hard long lasting natural finish that allows you to still feel the grain in the wood.  You will find the diameter at 6” with a height of 5” and a depth of 2 ½”.  The volume measures at 3 cups up to the brim.  The lid is inset for a better seal though certainly not airtight.  Ideal for putting your favorite nuts in as well as candies.  Enjoy and take advantage of this one of a kind treasure!  11Nov17  BXRO28   $35.00 and $12.00 S&H

Mountain Cedar Goodie Jar

You might call this smallish sized jar a 2 cupper and or a 2 grabber.  You probably don’t need me to clarify the 2 cupper part but probably the other.  The lid has two parts on it that you can grag it with, so it’s a 2 grabber!  Seeing as you already know that it’s capacity is 2 cups, I’ll also tell you that the outside diameter is 5 ½” and the inside is 3”.  The total height is 4 ¾” and the vessel depth is 2 ½”.  Turned from local mountain cedar which is also commonly called juniper.  This great looking wood has it’s natural defects which add to the rustic appeal.  There were some cracks that did not go all the way through so I filled them with natural cedar dust and clear glue.  Please remember that any cedar may alter the taste of food with direct contact.  So any item that you put in this must have shells or thick peels.  The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a mix of walnut oil and shellac, heavy on the shellac.  This gives the jar a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  13May17  BXMC7  $30.00 and $10.00 S&H

Pecan Pedestal Candy/Nut Bowl

One thing about pecan wood is the wondrous colors of it.  This jar was turned from a branch that was originally about 8” in diameter.  Besides being used as a candy or nut jar, you might put jewelry and other nice items in it.  Personally I’d hide my own little stash of M&M’s in it.  It will hold 2 cups of them and that’s a fair amount.  The outside diameter is 5 ¼” with an inside lip diameter of 2 ¾”.  The total height is 7” and the depth is 3”.  Use it with total confidence as the wood was first sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a walnut oil/shellac mixture very heavy on the shellac.  I always mix a bit of oil in the shellac so it spreads and permeates the wood better.  With a combination such as this the jar has a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  19Apr17  BXP78  $37.50 and $12.00 S&H

The Ultimate Candy Jar

This is without a doubt what I would consider the ultimate in candy jars.  After all it was turned from beautiful pecan wood.  You just ain’t gonna get much better than that.  There were some cracks that did not go all the way through so I filled some with natural dust and clear glue and others with coffee grounds and even some powered copper.  All these combined with the natural colors of the wood make this something to behold.  Just picture this sitting on your table or desk full of your favorite treats.  It will hold 2 ½ cups of them so go ahead and tease the other folks around you with it.  The diameter is 9” and the inside diameter is 4”.  The total height is 4” and the vessel depth is 2 ½”.  The wood was first sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with straight shellac with some of it rubbed in by hand and then buffed.  This combination gives the jar a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  21Mar17  BXP77  $40.00 and $15.00 S&H

Extraordinary Pecan Candy/Nut Jar

Without any doubt this is a very special candy or nut jar.  Turned from pecan alone makes it special.  What makes it extraordinary is the natural coloration of the wood and the rustic appeal it has.  In the lid you find some worm holes and even one goes all the way through!  There is some minor stress cracks in the wood that I think just adds to the rustic flavor of the piece.  I burned 3 lines into the lid for extra decoration.  Now I’m not saying you just have to put candy or nuts in this.  It will hold whatever goodies or treasures you decide to put in it up to 3 cups volume.  Trust me in saying that’s a lot of M&M’s.  The diameter is 6 ¼” with a total height including the lid of 4 ¾” and a vessel depth of 2 ¼”.  The wood was first sealed wth food grade walnut oil and then finished with a mixture of walnut oil and shellac.  The mix was heavy on shellac for a better sheen.  This combination gives the box a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  To say the least it is a one of a kind item not to be passed up.  8Mar17  BXP75  $35.00 and $12.00 S&H
